Published: 12/16/2015

VANCOUVER, BC. December 16, 2015 – Big Bad Boo’s preschool mini-series, Lili & Lola was recognized at the 7th Annual Pixie Awards in the animation category, the Vancouver-based company announced. The awarded episode, ‘Lili Picasso’, received the Gold-level Recognition.

Lili & Lola follows the adventures of two sisters, Lili and Lola, who live in a small apartment in a big city with Mama and Papa and their lazy cat, Kensington. Situated on a quiet street, their building is filled with interesting people from all over the world. The show celebrates cultural diversity by showcasing holidays like the Chinese New Year, Norooz and Diwali, introducing cultural nuances to a young audience. Partially funded by the Canada Media Fund in the Diverse Language Category, the show is the first Persian show to secure funding in that category.

Pixie Awards honor and promote outstanding individual work in Motion Graphics, Visual Effects and Animation. Judging is done by professionals who have excelled in the moving pixel fields of animation, motion graphics and visual effects. Entries are judged on a standard of excellence, not against each other.

Previously, Big Bad Boo Studios was awarded a 2013 Platinum Pixie Award for an episode of its earlier award-winning animated show, 1001 Nights.

ShabnamRezaei, the creator of the show says: “Lili & Lola is the fourth original program we produced that’s specifically designed for pre-school audiences. We’re delighted that it has met with the recognition from industry leaders, including Pixie Awards. We’ve worked hard to deliver a highest-quality animated show that also promotes values of multiculturalism and tolerance. It’s wonderful to see that effort recognized and appreciated.”

Lili & Lola is the fourth original program coming from Big Bad Boo Studios, following animated series like Mixed Nutz and 1001 Nights, which air in 120 countries including broadcasters such as Teletoon, Disney, CBC, Al Jazeera Children’s Channel, Discovery Kids, PBS and Globo TV.

Big Bad Boo Studios also produced a series of educational iOS game apps designed to teach children Persian language. The four games – ‘Learn The Persian Alphabet’, ‘Quiz Show’, ‘Memory Match Game’ and ‘Hide & Seek’ are available on iTunes.

Persian episodes of Lili & Lola can currently be streamed and downloaded on Oznoz Video, a digital SVOD platform (www.oznoz.com).
