New York- and Vancouver-based family prodco Big Bad Boo Studios has opened a European office in Vienna, Austria.
Company co-founders Aly Jetha and Shabnam Rezaei are heading up the expansion, which the kids’ specialist hopes will build out its international footprint.
“Vienna is at the heart of Central Europe and a key location for expansion into Europe, the Middle East and Asia,” said Jetha.
The Austrian government offers a 35% tax credit incentive for film and TV, further boosting Big Bad Boo’s development, production and distribution of children’s programming.
“It’s a pleasure to set up shop in Vienna and be in the process of creating local shows,” said Rezaei, who grew up in the city. “We have a healthy development slate in three countries now and hope to make great shows with new partners and help bolster the animation industry for the region.”
Big Bad Boo Studios produces shows such as courtroom cartoon caper Judge Jodhi for Canada’s CBC, plus The Bravest Knight and 16 Hudson for Hulu.
