Human Rights

For children in conflict or post-conflict environments, it is imperative to break cycles of violence and impunity while increasing respect for and knowledge of formal and informal justice systems. We use the highly entertaining approach of animation coupled with curricula and engaging discussions to do just that. For example, our Judge Jodhi (Jueza Julia) program features a 12-year-old girl named Jodhi who holds court in her backyard, helping neighbourhood children resolve disputes – the courtroom is cardboard, but the drama is real! Judge Jodhi delivers a verdict for each ‘case’ that promotes peaceful conflict resolution, compromise, and negotiation. Concepts of human rights, rule of law and democracy are integrated across all episodes, as they also are in our flagship program 1001 Nights Lifeskills and Civic Education Program.
